Club member Tim Pearson presents at tonights meeting. Tim is known for his art work and his art generates lots of interest at the AFF spring banquet. In the summer Tim is a fly fishing guide in Alaska. He will be presenting on fishing in Alaska. We will meet at the Clyde Iron Restaurant, 2920 West Michigan Street. Social hour at 6:00 pm and casting instruction or practice available. The presentation starts at 7:00 pm.

This is our second fly tying event of 2012. We will meet again at the Proctor Community Center from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. All skills levels welcome. It's a great way to beat the winter blues. Vises and materials available or bring your own equipment. The Proctor Community Center is located at 100 Pionk Drive.

Casting Rendezvous
The Arrowhead Fly Fishers and the College of St. Scholastica will offer an afternoon of fly casting instruction and fly casting games. This event is open to club members, CSS staff and students, as well as the general public. This event begins at 1:00 pm at the CSS fieldhouse and ends at 5:00 pm. Instruction is available throughout the afternoon. The casting games begin at 3:00 pm and is sure to be more fun then a 20 fish day. Rods and reels will be available or bring your own. Our club Certified Casting Instructors will be available for beginning to advanced level instruction.
March 11, 2012 Spring Banquet
This years Annual Spring Banquet will be held on Sunday, March 11th at the Clyde Iron Restaurant. With the change in venue the AFF club has new opportunities to expand the activities offered at this years banquet. See members of the board for tickets which are $25.00 per person. Details to follow.

July 2012 Hex Camp (details for next year to follow)
Hex Camp on the North Shore in Grand Marais is our July event. Listed below are potential lodging options. The Hex Camp headquarters will be at the Two Island Lake Campground. There will be a dinner gathering on Saturday, July xx 2012 starting with a social hour at 4:00pm, dinner at 5:00pm and off for evening fishing for the hardcore fisherman. Bring meat for the grill and a potluck item. Contact Karl Kaufman for further details at 218-879-9492.

From Hwy 61 in Grand Marais, north 3.7 miles on Gunflint Trail (Co. Rd. 12), west 6 miles on Co. Rd. 8, north 4 miles on Co. Rd. 27

Devil's Track Campground, located County Road 8. Take the Gunflint trail from Grand Marais to county road 8 to the west end to Devil's Track Lake.
Judge Magney State Park, located 14 miles north of Grand Marais on Hwy 61. There are 27 drive in wooded campsites with showers and flush toilets available. Make reservations at 866-857-2757 or www.stayatmnparks.com. Vehicle permits and camping fees required. All firewood must be bought at the park or registered wood seller.
Kimball Lake Campground, located 12 miles North of Grand Marais. There are 10 camp sites available. Register through the National Reservation System at www.recreation.gov.
Another lodging site includes Devil's Track Lodge.

7th Annual Brule River Rendezvous
This is the weekend steelhead fishers await as our Brule River Rendezvous event happens this weekend. Lodging at the Brule River Classic Resort is available or just stop by. This is a great opportunity to learn the ropes for steelhead fly fishing from the club veterans. Quite frankly, its a great time for all. Contact Randy Hicks at 218-724-4296 for reservations and more information. Costs will be split based on the number staying at the resort and food. Feel free to come for the day if you cannot stay overnight.
